Preparing for children’s tennis: a guide for parents
Enquire first, then try it together
Contact TYP Tennis School before your first visit. Include your child’s age, any experience with ball games and the times you could attend. You do not need to know the right coaching group already. The tennis school will discuss which activity suits your child and when they can start.
Ask TYP directly for current dates and participation conditions. This avoids arriving when no session is scheduled or a group is full. You can also ask about the first visit and what happens next.
What does your child need for the Kids Club?
Rackets and balls are provided for the Kids Club, so you do not need to buy a racket in advance. Your child should bring suitable sports clothing and tennis shoes for clay courts. If you are unsure about shoes or equipment, ask the tennis school before visiting. The aim is a start in which your child feels comfortable and can join in.
Trying tennis and joining the club are separate steps
Club membership is not required for the Kids Club. You can first find out whether your child enjoys tennis and how regular coaching fits into your routine. If you later decide to join, the club will explain the relevant fees and application process. Coaching is arranged separately with TYP.
Our fees page lists regular membership options for children, teenagers and families. The club can confirm which rate applies to you. The tennis school handles coaching groups. This division helps you direct your questions to the right people.
From the first rally to group coaching
When starting out, it does not matter whether every stroke works straight away. Your child can become familiar with a racket and ball and practise with other children. If they want to continue, discuss a suitable group with TYP. Joining a junior team later is a separate step to agree with the people responsible.
The grounds are at Erftstraße 186 in Kerpen-Sindorf. Arrange a date before your first visit. Our junior tennis page has information on teams, activities and support.
